Introduction

We will use this Post to introduce ourselves to each other. Please share a bit about yourself. Our intent is to build a community of learners in the class that will help us feel comfortable and hence learn in a meaningful way: Here are a few words about me the teacher: I am 59 years old and have been teaching at IC for 26 years. My wife and I came from Israel 30 years ago. My two girls are 33 and 27 and I have a 2.5 years old grandson. I love nature and my buddy dog Max walks with me every day. Look forward to share the beauty of Math with you.

Hi I'm Katie. I'm from a small town in Maryland which is about an hour from DC. I'm an International Relations major and a Cultural Communications minor. I'm in love with my red hair and music. I love every type except for country and screamo. Dane Cook and Zoolander never fail to make me laugh.

Hi I'm Anna. I'm a Anthropology major and a French and Still Photography minor. I love traveling and relaxing and watching movies. This is my last semester at Ithaca College which is sad but I'm exiting to be graduating. I'm from a small town an hour south of Albany. I don't really like math and I hope that that will change after I take this class!

Hello -
I'm Amanda. I am a junior writing major and environmental studies minor. Pretty much I just like being outside, photos, music, animals, and words. I guess I can try to like numbers, too, but we'll see how it goes. See you all around!

About the only thing I know for sure is that I want to go to Med school and do Drs Without Borders. I love to travel, and I hope that throughout my life I'll get a chance to visit every country.

I'm Zia. I am a senior soon to graduate with a BA in Drama and BS in Cinema and Photography. I am from here. Ithaca. It's not that bad. This semester is strange, because I must stay in Ithaca to complete my senior thesis. I have traveled all over and to not leave during spring break is going to be tough, but worth it.

Hi, I'm Alison. I'm a Sophomore from New Jersey. I'm an exploratory student looking to double major in Art and Art History. I'm a vegetarian who loves to paint, draw, read, hike and climb trees. I love nature, animals and flowers more than most anything else. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you and developing a new respect for numbers :)

Hi, I'm Keith. I'm from pennsylvania. I play guitar and do some things outside. I love baby animals but hate baby people. I am not a vegetarian. I am finding it difficult to grow a beard. I am a freshmen. I think I just deleted a comment but it's still there. I'm not traditionally a big fan of numbers or math, but might be once I find out what math is/what is math?

Hi, I'm Margaret Streck, but my friends and family call me Molly. I'm from Cooperstown, NY, which is about 2 hours away from Ithaca. I'm a Junior English major and I'll be graduating from IC a semester early, so in December of this year. I love the academic experience I've had so far here, but I am nervous about this course because Math has been a challenging subject for me over the years!

Hey, my name is Nick. My family recently moved to Northampton Massachusetts. I grew up in a nearby town called Longmeadow where I graduated from high school. I love skiing, and the mountains. I look forward to learning about math in a conceptual life-based format. My experiences with the subject throughout my first 12 years of school have been mostly negative. I am ready to change that.

Hi, I'm Steve Jacobson. I'm from a suburb right outside of Chicago and I'm a senior here at Ithaca College. I'm a cinema and photography major and theater minor. I like red gummy bears, bubble wrap and gorge diving in the summer. I think this class is going to be a lot of fun and I'm glad I can partake in the experience.

Hi, I’m Allison D. I’m a freshman at Ithaca College in the Exploratory program. I’m still exploring around trying to decide what to do with myself (in terms of a major). I was never very good at math and my father too spent many hours helping me get through the regents courses. I am from a small town in upstate NY (Greene), about an hour from Ithaca. I like cats and just about any kind of furry little animal.
